SCC Posts Belated Pictures of Holland

I meant to Post these a while back but...oh well, better a month late than never I guess.

I AMSTERDAM! How clever...nice day at the Rijksmuseum

Brian eats Pickled Herring...Delicious!

Hard to see but if you look on the sign to the right you can see the actual highway exit sign for Dordt, alma mater rock on!

Belgium! One of the cool things about being in the Netherlands is that you can do stuff like say "hey, why don't we go to Belgium for dinner?" and actually do that. This is the town square in Antwerp for anyone who is interested, a nice spot for Chocolate and steamed Mussels (although don't try those together in combination.

SCC goes back to Buda!

Delayed post...pictures of sunny Budapest

Here I go again, Budapest for the 3rd time. It really is a nice city, especially in the spring.

We had a very nice afternoon in the city, the weather was beautiful, it was a great day to visit the Cathedral, Hungary's national church.

Buda Castle at night.

SCC in NYC!

Statue of Liberty! We had 3 free hours in NYC and took the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. While it was enjoyable the whole experience made me feel like part of a herd of cattle as you line up to get tickets, line up to get on the boat, line up to get off the boat, then to go up the statue, then off the statue, then back on the boat and then off of the boat, the whole time having Port Authority people yelling at you (move ahead now, move ahead now). It really gives you a nice Livestock experience.

Obligatory picture of Times Square

Obligatory picture of the street sign on Wall street

Crazy light fixture at the hotel where we stayed, not sure what to call this (Western-ironic-chic, caribou-deco?) I'm not too up on my design terms, I'll work on that.

SCC Posts Pictures of House!

Finally, in response to popular demand, here are some pictures of our new place. Trying to take pictures represented a little challenge as it really is a tall, narrow structure so getting a wide view is not really possible...in any case this should give inquiring minds and idea of what it's like:

Look up, waaay up...it's our front door!

The view from our kitchen, you can see the nice construction project as well as views of downtown SJ.

Blue room, our first house painting experience.

Views of the park from the bedroom window

The den...very orange in this picture.

And our empty living room, lots of natural light!

OK, that's the quick tour, have a good one! More post to come, another trip coming up this weekend so I'll send pictures as I go.

Supply Chain Commander Returns to Blog!

Hello? Anyone there? Okay, when I said I was going to rest after my last post I didn't really expect to take 6 months off from writing but I guess that I did. What can I say, we bought a house and I didn't really want to add another blog about Real Estate to the WWW, it's quite a process. In any case, Supply Chain Commander has returned to command new supply chains!...or at least try to control the one I've got.

I haven't done as much traveling recently but I noticed that one of the last posts I made I put a picture of the view from my hotel room at the Hilton Budapest. My last business trip was to Minneapolis, where I also stayed at a Hilton and had this view:

Just thought I would share that, if anyone is out there actually checking this blog anymore.
Later,
Brian

SCC comes home!

Flights #10&11 completed (Budapest - Frankfurt, Frankfurt - San Francisco)
Flight miles: 6219 (18,085 Total)
Flight time: 13:21 (44:10 Total)

First of all, 13 and a half hours is too long for anyone to spend on airplanes in one day. What was even worse is that the flight from Frankfurt was delayed for 3 hours due to mechanical issues. (The landing gear wasn't closing...I'm glad they fixed it!). In any case, it was VERY good to finally get home, the flight miles and time on planes is bad enough but when I start to think about all of the time waiting for taxis to get to the airport, checking in at the aiport, waiting for the plane, waiting to get off the plane, waiting for luggage, waiting for the taxi, riding in the taxi...it gets a little staggering to think of all of that time.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, even the Canadians!

Buda is Betta!

Flights #9 completed (Dusseldorf - Budapest)
Flight miles: 622 (11,866 total to date)
Flight time: 1:50 (30:49 total to date)

This is my second time in Budapest and it sure is cold! High was 30 degrees today, do I look chilled?

Not to do any advertising but I have to say that the Budapest Hilton has got one of the best locations of any hotel in the world. It's built on the foundations of the old church so there are pieces of the ruins built into the parts of the hotel and it is right next to the "new" cathedral (built in the 1400's). This is the view from my room (unfortunately the Cathedral is undergoing renovations but it's pretty amazing).

And the views of the Danube from the hill are spectacular!

And yes, I have been doing some work on this trip, I believe we have found our new European home here in Budapest, the factory is world class and I think they can handle our business so it was a succesful trip. In any case, at this point all I care about is that I get to go home tomorrow, happy Thanksgiving!
